Janab Mufti Atiqur Rahman

Mufti Atīqur Rahmān Usmānī (1901 – 12 May 1984) was an eminent alumnus of Darul Uloom Deoband, a Muslim scholar, and an activist of the Indian independence movement who co-founded Nadwatul Musannifeen and the All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat.
Mufti Atīqur Rahmān established Nadwatul Musannifeen along with Hamid al-Ansari Ghazi, Hifzur Rahman Seoharwi, and Saeed Ahmad Akbarabadi, who were eminent Islamic scholars of that time.
Mufti Atīqur Rahmān participated in the Indian freedom struggle and issued a verdict stating that no government has the right to impose taxes on items like water and salt. If any government does so, it is necessary for the people to oppose this action and struggle against it.
Nadwatul Musannifeen (Council of Writers) was an academic research institution and publishing house located in Delhi, established in 1938. Nadwatul Musannifeen has published more than 250 books on subjects related to the Quran and Tafsir, Hadith sciences, Islamic culture and heritage, Sufi movement, Sufism in India, and a doctoral thesis en-titled Islāmi Uloom mai Nadwatul Musannifeen ki Khidmāt: Ek mutāla.
